- The Toronto Maple Leafs suffered a frustrating 3-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators, hitting the post or crossbar six times throughout the game
- Auston Matthews scored his first goal of the season on a redirect, while Kirill Marchenko added a power-play goal in his first game as a Leaf
- Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky showed marked improvement over his previous outing, providing a bright spot in net

- Starting 1-2-0 isn’t ideal, but the team has enough encouraging signs heading into Tuesday’s home matchup against Nashville
